The neurohormonal-coupled processes of stomach emptying and pancreatic secretory function have been implicated in Diabetic Gastroparesis (DGP), providing fresh insights into the pathogenesis of the disease. This also improves the process of discovering new therapy targets for DGP and reduces the problems associated with existing care techniques. Gastric emptying tests determine how long it takes for food to leave your stomach. Food generally moves out of the stomach and into the small intestine 1 1/2 to 2 hours after a meal. Gastroparesis occurs when your stomach takes longer than usual to empty.
