Rotation of the electron’s distributed electrostatic field

Michael Singer

When an electron enters a transverse electric field, the electron’s distributed electrostatic field interacts with that transverse field. This paper examines this event in terms of field energy, and shows that the entry of the electron into the field causes it exchange some of its kinetic energy for rotational energy, causing it to rotate and develop magnetic and gyroscopic moments. The paper also looks at what the concept of electron binding might mean in these terms. It is not the purpose of this paper to develop a detailed model of electron rotation, but rather to identify the need for such a model, and to predict some of its properties.
